We’ve been heads down building something special, and it’s time to give you all a sneak peek at what’s coming: Degen App — a focused, fast Farcaster client built by and for Degens.
Degen App will be an alternative to the Farcaster app — a cleaner, channel-first experience that brings tipping and conversation to the forefront. Think Reddit-style discussion, built on Farcaster, powered by $DEGEN.
Whether you're already deep in /degen or just Farcaster-curious, this is the app for hanging out, sharing ideas, and rewarding great content.

We’re starting with what matters most — a lightweight social client focused on community discussions that’s easy to use, hard to spam, and great for conversation.
Every account in Degen App will be tied to a unique phone number.
We’re doing this to keep things human and reduce spam. It also makes onboarding as simple as phone + OTP — no wallet setup, no seed phrase to store.
Numbers won’t be public, and we’re using trusted tools to store them securely. We’re building a real network of real people.
Tip allowances helped kick things off — but they brought farming with them. That phase is ending.
With Degen App, tipping still exists — it’s just from your own bag now. Want to reward a great post? Send a few $DEGEN. It’s real, direct, and keeps incentives aligned with actual appreciation.
To add more utility here, we understand that depositing your hard-earned tokens just to reward others might have limited appeal. So we’ll introduce ways for tipping to also help a cast rank higher in the feed. You’re not just tipping the author — you’re promoting content you want others to see.
Also: the vault is going away, and locked tokens will be released when the app launches. We found the vault mechanic to be over-engineered and too complex for most.
Community tokens are still set aside. Rather than rushing into new drops, we’re keeping them on standby — to support the ecosystem in the future when it makes sense.
We’re exploring ideas around rewards tied to real value and long-term growth: onboarding real people, posting highly engaging content, creating meaningful impact. We think those behaviors deserve recognition — how we do that is still evolving.
No promises. No gimmicks. Just a pool we’ll use deliberately when the time is right.
We’re targeting September for launch — starting with iOS.

We’re building the Degen app! It’s gonna be a Reddit-style Farcaster client, and aside from that the main thing is our awesome community, we’re planning to keep growing it strong. Leisure is less active, but I do like the vibes and posted my berries there. I like seeing content on slow life a lot because it’s the opposite of what I have haha! No need to tip me, I just like seeing mindfulness casts in my feed
/degen - kind of taught me everything I know about building tokens and token communities (hadnt ever been into them before)

/words was my original 'home' when I joined they would have these daily $DEGEN competitions for writing, and I like writing, so I won a few helped me connect with people for the first time when I knew nothing about anything (April '24)

I've really enjoyed /nature, /photography, and /itookaphoto Over time, these got filed with AI images, unfortunately. Also /degen is where it all started 🎩
yeah i think we've all tired of the generic AI images but now they're getting so realistic which makes them more enjoyable but also more annoying im excited what @july is building with roc camera to combat this still hoping channels can find their way back to something more usable
/f1 first off the folks there are awesome and extremely knowledgable on the sport. and it's a really cool example of a non-crypto topic that is supercharged by crypto rails and open social graph. we have a lot more work to do to grow the F1 community on here but the banter is getting louder.

Hey Degens 👋 Thanks for your feedback on a potential $DEGEN burn. It's clear many of you care deeply about $DEGEN's long-term sustainability. Here’s what we're considering right now (nothing finalized yet!): 📅 August 28th: A Big Milestone - Possibly our final airdrop. - Unlocking all $DEGEN tokens from the vault. - Strong community support for stopping inflation via ongoing airdrops. 🔥 One-Time Token Burn - Considering a one-time burn equivalent to roughly 10–50% of the amount claimed during Airdrop 2 (approx. 400M to 2B tokens). - Important: We're not burning tokens you've claimed, just using the claimed amount as a benchmark for how much we might burn. - This burn would coincide with the end of current tipping allowances. - Likely having a community call to discuss and celebrate the milestone. 🛑 Ending Liquidity Incentives - Possibly stopping Aerodrome liquidity mining incentives in August. - Ending Beefy incentives on October 16th. - These steps would significantly reduce future token emissions. 💸 Starting Token Buybacks - Potentially beginning buybacks in August using earnings from: - LP rewards - Mini app revenue - Future Degen App earnings - Bought-back tokens would be regularly burned, up to a defined cap. - Goal: Reinforce community alignment and long-term sustainability. Epic. That which remains unchanged, does not survive. My only suggestion to improve this even further is to think about what cool new utility, partnerships, or other stuff you can announce in tandem with this next chapter (if you feel that’s appropriate). Can always find doubters and detractors for these choices you’ve laid out… hard to rain on announcements of cool new stuff of the variety I’ve suggested! :)

I really wish degen would've followed the ham playbook with rewards for holding and staking $tn100x, nfts, etc... looking at @aerodrome's protocol metrics and you'll see that $tn100x is still providing rewards to holders months after being away from farcaster... this is what keeps holders holding... $degen aerodrome vs $tn100x aerodrome
we’re actually suggesting doing that by using our LP to buy back $DEGEN. if you’re holding, you benefit. no staking, no weird hoops, just hold and chill.
appreciate the response jacek. that said, there's not a big incentive to vote or stake in the weth/degen lp bc the apr% is only 19%. with limited incentives, i would rather hold or sell my degen and use my weth with other tokens that provide yield. if you used the $degen to incentivize voters and stakers, people would want to stake $degen in the lps. again some will sell, but if you have the right incentives, I think you would see many people using the incentives and adding them to the lp to earn more.

All it will do is provide exit liquidity to those large bag holders to flee. A burn needs a strategic plan to incentivize newcomers and keep bag holders
